Microsoft Office 365 Replacing Zimbra

Getting Zimbra Mail Settings for everyone using Zimbra
Email Migration Focus is on Webmail Clients and not Local Clients
 
We are getting some questions about the upcoming email migration and some questions have to do with understanding the difference between a local email client and a web email client.  The migration will be from Zimbra mail servers to Microsoft Office 365 mail servers. If you currently use the Zimbra webmail client, you will be moving to the Outlook 365 webmail client. If you use a local client, such as Outlook, Pegasus Mail, or Thunderbird, your email server settings will need to be updated. We are not moving people to different local clients at this time.
 
If you are using Zimbra (Webmail) as your only client, email and folders will move to the new system. Address book (contacts) that you have made will need to be modified and distribution lists will need to be recreated. Calendar shares will also need to be redone. Here is a table indicating what will migrate and will not migrate.

Another method of capturing your Zimbra Account Contacts, is to export them to a file. Instructions are here:
 
 
There are serveral issues that can impact the success of importing contacts and you should read the help file before importing but if you have many contacts, exporting will at least give you a list to work with later.
 
 
If you are not using webmail as your only email client, you just need to update the settings for the incoming and outgoing mail servers in your smartphone, tablet or other mobile device. This will also need to be done if you use a local client such as Outlook, Pegasus Mail or Thunderbird. It is very easy and maybe takes a few minutes.  These settings will also need to updated on any mobile devices that have been configured to connect to the mail server. Do not change these settings until after the January 6th migration date. Server settings will be available  from links on this page.
 
In the future, we do want to standardize on our email client but we want to wait until all of the mail is migrated to the new mail servers.
 
 
New Email Server Settings for Pegasus Mail
If Pegasus Mail is your email client, after January 6th you only have to change the email server settings from the old servers to the new email servers Before you update the settings, you will need to determine whether if you are using IMAP or POP by going to the Tools menu and then clicking IMAP Profiles. If there is something in that list, you are most likely using IMAP. If not, you are probably using POP. Follow the instructions in the appropriate document below.
 
 
 
Please do not modify these settings until January 6th, 2014.

Current Outlook Users Accessing Zimbra Contacts and Calendars
The Zimbra Connector is a service installed on your computer so that Microsoft Outlook can access Calendar and Contact data from Zimbra. If you are using the connector, you must uninstall it before before configuring Outlook to connect to the new email server (outlook.office365.com) on January 6th, 2014. You can remove the connector before January 6th, 2014 but you will loose access to Zimbra Contacts and Calendar.
