Regional Farmers Market Vendor Workshops- February 2019

Submitted by Londa Nwadike

KSRE is working again this year with the Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) to organize regional farmers market vendor workshops across the state. This year's dates and locations include: Olathe, February 1; Parsons, February 2; Dodge City, February 8; Wichita, February 9; Manhattan, February 15; and Hays, February 22. Online registration ($20/person which includes lunch), flyers for each workshop, and the workshop agendas are all available at https://www.fromthelandofkansas.com/page/farmers-market-regional-workshops. Note that morel mushroom ID certification sessions will be offered at the Olathe and Parsons workshops.

Vendors can again bring their sales scale to the workshop to get certified for free, which is an ~$40 value. We have a great lineup of speakers and topics this year, including a produce grower panel, a Kansas Specialty Crop Growers Association Meeting, and a Farm to Institution session. Please share this information with anyone in your area that might be interested, and consider attending yourself.

Contact Londa Nwadike, lnwadike@ksu.edu, with questions on the workshops. Reimbursement scholarships are available from SARE for farmers market vendors or Extension personnel to attend the regional workshops ($100 scholarships to cover registration and travel expenses).

Contact Kerri Ebert, kebert@ksu.edu, for more information on the scholarships. Applications are available at https://kstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6LuWOmDRkIaYT7T. These workshops are supported by the Kansas Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Alternative Crops and the Kansas Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program.
