Prescribed Fire Training Video

Submitted by Lori Bammerlin

Healthy prairies depend on fire, and different ignition techniques can help prescribed burners set and control the fire they need to achieve their burn objectives. Ignition patterns can be combined to create and maintain fireguards, moderate fire intensity, and protect infrastructure. Ignition techniques are demonstrated and discussed to help you select the ignition type and sequence appropriate for your prescribed burn.

This joint project between the Great Plains Fire Science Exchange and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension was filmed on West Texas rangelands. The video can be viewed on the Great Plains YouTube Channel or to request a copy to use for trainings and educational events, please email Lori, our Outreach Coordinator.
