Thank you for your continued support for the fall semester.

Congratulations to our DPO’s Kylie Perez, Hector Rojas, and Skylar Stephens, along with all others graduating this fall in 2019! We look forward to seeing them use what they learned throughout their academic career and watching them strive to become successful.

MANRRS had a successful Friendsgiving, and final general body meeting, on November 20. They will also be hosting a study hall this week from 6-9 p.m. in Waters Hall 106; snacks will be provided. This study hall is open to all and is meant to provide an atmosphere where students can go to study and ask any questions they may have while they review for finals.

The DPO represented K-State at the Professional Agricultural Workers Conference (PAWC) situated at Tuskegee University on December 8-10, 2019. The theme for this year’s conference was “Building Resilient Communities & Families through Integrative Partnerships, Sustainable Practices, Policies, and Agricultural Transformations.” Participants were able to attend workshops, sessions, and contests. The DPO has been recognized along with a student:

• In the conference, Dr. Zelia Wiley moderated for the session, “Issues Impacting Student Success in Higher Education.”
• In the “Urban Meets Rural: Examples of Grassroots Community Development Projects,” Dr. Zelia Wiley, Lonnie Hobbs, Jr., and Curtis Pitts will be featured on the panel to speak about the Moses Project.
• In the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society Symposium, Lonnie Hobbs, Jr. presented in the Graduate Oral with his “Implications for Marketing Product Attributes in the Pet Food Industry” presentation.

Please note that returning from the holiday break, on Monday, January 27 at 5:30 p.m., in 137 Waters Hall, the DPO, co-sponsored by Farm Credit and MANRRS, will be presenting the 16th Annual Dr. MLK Jr. Diversity Student Leader Reception. This event will feature Reverend John R. Williams, USD 501 Board of Education Member, as the Keynote speaker.

Thank you to everyone for supporting the Diversity Programs Office with your continued attention and assistance with our programs. We are pleased to say that it has been a successful semester. We wish you all Happy Holidays!

For more information on future events, please contact Dr. Wiley’s email, zwiley@ksu.edu, or the DPO at 785-532-5793.
